Ownership Programs

Can the client change the berth or country of berth during the program?

In general, all yachts stay at the same operational base for the entire contract period. It is possible, in cooperation with Navigare, to discuss the option of changing base within the operational country or to another operational country.

Any costs associated with a change of base or country will be invoiced and paid by the owner.

Can Navigare change the country of berth?

Yes, but it would only happen in exceptional situations, such as at times of force majeure, if there is a substantial decrease in the charter market over a longer time period, and/or if the security of the yachts is being jeopardized due to financial, natural, or civil situations.

Can Navigare change the berth location of the yacht?

Yes, it is possible for Navigare to change the berth location with only a notice to the owners. This could be for commercial or operational reasons, such as proximity to airports, development of new marinas, or expansion of the fleet. Since the marinas are not owned by Navigare, the company is unable to guarantee a certain marina for the whole contract period, but it is in Navigare’s interest to build and gain trust and recognition of our base and brand at the place of operation.

Can I skipper my own yacht?

Yes, if the booking has been made by the owner or if the booking is part of their dedicated owner sailing weeks. The owner cannot be placed as an assigned skipper on board his own boat.

Can I have a crew assigned to my yacht?

Only the designated crewed charter boats come with a dedicated crew. The rest are chartered bareboat on the market with the option (for the charter guest) to add a skipper, cook, or hostess. Navigare reserves the right to add a skipper to a charter booking if the client does not meet the sailing skill requirements.

Can I have a mandatory skipper assigned to my yacht?

No. All yachts except designated crewed boats are chartered bareboat on the market with the option (available to the charter guest) to add a skipper, cook, or hostess. Navigare requires proven sailing skills and experience from the charterer before the charter, in the form of a sailing resume, if they plan to sail bareboat. If the charter client does not meet the requirements in terms of sailing skills, Navigare will place a professional skipper on their boat.

Can I change the base of my yacht?

In general, all yachts stay at the same operational base for the entire contract period. It is possible, in agreement with Navigare, to discuss the possibility of moving the boat from one Navigare-operated base to another Navigare-operated base.

Any costs related to the change of base or destination will be invoiced and paid by the owner.

Can I keep my yacht in the Mediterranean and then in the British Virgin Islands in order to extend the season?

No. Any additional income this would generate would be cancelled out by the massive wear and tear on the yacht caused by moving it such a great distance. It is also vital that each yacht has time for maintenance and service every year. All yachts in Navigare’s fleet follow the same strict service plan, which is part of the agreement with the client.

Do I have to keep the yacht in the charter program the whole season?

Yes. But keep in mind that for Ultimate owners, the less you sail on your yacht, the more it will be available for charter, which in turn increases your charter revenue.

What are Navigare’s ownership models in charter management?

Complete Program: Guaranteed Income, Zero Hassle

Navigare’s Complete Program is ideal for those seeking a worry-free yacht ownership experience with predictable financial returns. When you purchase a new yacht through Navigare and place it in our charter fleet, you’ll receive a guaranteed annual income of up to 8%, regardless of charter activity, for six seasons. All operating costs, including service, maintenance, and insurance, are fully covered by Navigare. You’ll enjoy up to 12 weeks of sailing per year and access to the entire global fleet of yachts. The hands-off approach and the steady income make this an attractive choice for yacht owners worldwide.

Ultimate Program: Flexible Use, Higher Potential Returns

The Ultimate Program offers greater control and a higher earning potential. You’ll still enjoy up to 12 weeks of sailing annually and benefit from Navigare’s expert charter management, but as the yacht owner, you’re responsible for operating costs. With this setup, you will earn a variable return of up to 12% annually, depending on the charter performance and maintenance requirements of your boat. This program is an ideal choice for US taxpayers who want to take advantage of potential tax benefits that may be available when the yacht is used for business or for those who want to actively manage their yacht’s earning potential while enjoying the lifestyle perks of sailing and exploring new destinations.
