BALI CATAMARANS: REDEFINING CRUISING

Since its launch in 2014, BALI Catamarans has transformed the way people experience life at sea. The BALI brand was developed by the renowned Catana Group, which has been manufacturing boats since 1984 and is today one of France’s most respected multihull builders. Remaining true to its roots, the Bali range was created to challenge the norms and push the limits of cruising catamarans.

Catana made a name for itself by producing fast, high-performance vessels using advanced materials, such as carbon and daggerboards, but Bali took a different approach. The goal with Bali was to design a yacht that prioritizes comfort and open spaces yet is seaworthy enough for long voyages and rough weather conditions.

A Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living Concept

Central to the Bali concept was to remove the boundaries between the indoor and outdoor areas, creating one continuous, harmonious flow where living spaces seem to blend in with one another. A prime example of this is the signature Bali door, a clever tilt-and-turn door that merges the salon with the aft cockpit. Functioning almost like a garage door, this solution creates one expansive social space in the center and aft onboard the yacht.

Instead of the typical netted trampoline at the bow, Bali introduced a fully rigid foredeck that serves as an extended lounge area. Add the sliding side windows in the salon, and the result is a multihull that gives the impression of being close to the elements and connected to the surroundings at all times.

A Versatile and Expansive Model Range

From the nimble Catsmart to the flagship Bali 5.4, all sailing models share the core design principles outlined above. The lineup also includes the Catspace, Bali 4.2, 4.4, 4.6, and 4.8, each offered in a range of layouts to suit both private and charter markets. For those who prefer a motor yacht, Bali offers the Catspace M/Y and the Bali 4.3 M/Y, which incorporate the Bali signature features but in a power cat format.

Signature Flybridges and Smart Interiors

A standout on most models is the flybridge, which isn’t just for navigation; it also serves as a key social space with a rooftop-like experience. This elevated space, available on all Bali yachts except the Bali Catsmart, offers incredible visibility at the helm and wonderful views for those unwinding in the lounge area. Inside, Bali yachts are outfitted with full-sized fridges, open layouts, and generous storage that rivals what’s found on much larger vessels.

The Visionary Behind the Brand

The driving force behind this evolution was Olivier Poncin, who took control of Catana in 2003. He envisioned a catamaran that was easier to sail, offered smarter construction techniques, and delivered unmatched comfort. The debut of the Bali 4.5 at the Cannes Yachting Festival turned heads, and since then, nearly 1,500 units have been built.
